Teaching assistance: Introduction to Political Theory (Dr. Dan O'Neill, Fall 2020 & Fall 2021)
As I teaching assistant, I lead discussion sections and organized my own lectures around the material being covered by the instructor of record.Â
Student Reviews
"Walker is a wonderful TA. I have attended his office hours before essays were due several times and he is very helpful in figuring out what to focus on when writing the essay. He is also always available to answer questions over email after office hours and responds in a prompt manner. He is also very caring, extending deadline extensions to those who are struggling with mental health and those who are fighting illnesses that it more difficult for them to work. I came down with the flu or a severe cold before the midterm essay was due and Walker was kind enough to extend me a deadline extension, lowering my stress levels."
"He is also incredibly knowledgeable about the course and has an infectious enthusiasm for it. While Dr. O'Neill does an incredible job teaching the course, Walker does an incredibly job filling in the gaps that Dr. O'Neill simply did not have the time to teach, and is good at making his expectations for assignments clear. Walker is also great at conducting the discussions and making them interesting and memorable. He is without a doubt the best TA I have ever had and I am forever thankful to have had him as my TA for this course."
"Very good as a supplement to the readings. By far the best TA I had this semester and should definitely continue as a TA for the course. He is engaging and helps make sure that all of his students succeed. Would definitely recommend him to anyone taking this course."
"Very straightforward and easy to understand in his explanations of the course topics. It was obvious that Walker is well versed in the subject and is really comfortable presenting it in an easily digestible way."
"He is very calm and relaxed which makes me feel like I can ask anything and participate freely."

Past Research Role
I currently serve as a research assistant under Dr. Leslie Paul Thiele and will continue that role until Spring 2024. This role has allowed me to devote my time to dissertation research in lieu of teaching responsibilities.
